Myddelton Square is a beautiful Georgian Square in Islington, London. Originally laid out in the 1820's, the square retains its historic appearance today.

The Myddelton Square Association (MSA) is a local residents' association whose objectives are to protect and maintain the status, character and integrity of Myddelton Square as a heritage site in a conservation area and as a community asset.

History

History of Myddelton Square

Myddelton Square and the surrounding streets were first developed by the New River Company in 1824 – 27. It is named after Sir Hugh Myddelton who was responsible for building the New River, which carried fresh water from the town of Amwell, north of London, to nearby reservoirs where they provided drinking water to London’s growing population in the early 17th century.

Community Gardening in Myddelton Square

The Myddelton Square Gardening Group is a group of local residents and friends who have been maintaining and improving the gardens for all to enjoy.

The gardening group meets regularly, and has been working to restore the gardens to their former glory.

St Mark's Church

Church and community centre

Situated in the centre of Myddelton Square is St. Mark's Church.

The church is used by two congregations for Christian Worship, and houses a community hall, mediation centre.

The square has recently appeared in films and TV shows, including "Howard's End" (2017) and "Suffragette" (2015).
